Miss Beverley Waters
Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer
Beverley Waters trained at the
Scully-Borovansky School of Ballet in Sydney
under the direction of Miss Kathleen Daintree and Dame Nellie Potts. After
completing her Royal Academy of Dance training, where she is now a life member, Beverley
joined the National Ballet company. She then travelled to Europe and
worked with some of the most eminent choreographers and teachers of the day.
On returning to Australia, Beverley established herself as a teacher, choreographer and adjudicator. Twenty years ago Beverley established the Beverley Waters Ballet Studio in Adelaide. Possessed of enormous energy and drive Beverley not only ran her own schools, which she continues to do, but also contributed her skills as a teacher and choreographer with Rex Reid's Adelaide Dance Centre and Ballet Company, the Chinook Studios. She was also an invite to lecture to students of dance at the Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Adelaide. In 1992 Beverley was commissioned by Barron Films to choreograph the dance sequences for the TV mini-series "Tracks of Glory".
In 1987 Beverley accepted the position of Artistic Director of the South Australian Children's Ballet Company and has to date choreographed fifteen new works specially designed for young dancers. Under her direction the Company has attracted internationally renown guest choreographers, such as Paul Boyd and Csaba Buday who have collaborated with Beverley to create diverse pieces that exemplify the artistic range of the company
