Many past members of the Company have gone on to professional careers in dance and entertainment in Australia and overseas.
Natanya Andonas
Natanya trained in Adelaide and completed her advance certificate with the Royal Academy of Dance. She danced with the Rex Reid Ballet in Victoria and left Australia to dance with the Weiner Ballet Theatre of Germany where she was a leading dancer. Natanya is now teaching in Adelaide.
Carolyn Bridges
Carolyn trained with Beverley Waters in Adelaide. She danced with the SACBC for four years. She joined the National Dance Theatre in Melbourne and then completed a Bachelor of Arts in dance at the University of Queensland. After graduation she joined the Padma Menon Dance Theatre in Canberra, a company which blends classical eastern and western forms. Carolyn toured to India with the company.
Elizabeth Chittleborough
Elizabeth (Lizzie) trained with Jaqueline Tucker and at Dancecraft in Adelaide. She danced with the SACBC for six years, four as principal dancer. She gained her Bachelor of Arts in Dance at the Queensland University of Technology and is now dancing with Expressions Dance Company in Queensland.
Chylie Cooper
Chylie trained with Jaqueline Tucker in Adelaide and then gained a Bachelor of Arts majoring in dance at the Perth Academy of Performing Arts. She danced with the SACBC for six years, becoming principal dancer for the last three years. In 1996 Chylie performed at the Seoul Festival in South Korea with the WA Academy, and also performed with the Rex Reid Dance Company. She joined Bill Pengelly's Australian Dance Theatre and danced with ADT for three years. She is now a member of Graeme Murphy's Sydney Dance Company. Chylie's photograph is on the cover of the March/April 2003 edition of Dance Australia magazine.
Amy Doughty
Amy trained at Ecole de Ballet with Jacqueline Tucker and danced with the SACBC for six years, becoming principal dancer for the last three. She continued her dance training in Melbourne before winning an International scholarship to study in Hong Kong. In 1997 she traveled to England to compete in the Genee International Ballet Competition and then joined Independent Ballet Wales, a small company which tours extensively throughout the British Isles. Amy dances principal roles for the company and is also their Ballet Mistress. Amy has taught at Dance 04, 05 and 06 Summer Schools in Adelaide.
Alexis Holland
Alexis trained with Beverley Waters, and later also with Terry Simpson. She danced with the SACBC for five years. Alexis has studied for three years with the New Zealand Academy of Performing Arts, which is associated with the Royal New Zealand Ballet.
Dale Hutson
Dale Trained in Adelaide with Robert Okell where he gained his excellent partnering skills. He danced with the SACBC for five years, before gaining a diploma of Performing Arts at the Edith Cowan university in Western Australia. He has danced with the South Australian State Opera Company and with Opera Australia, and danced in the closing ceremony of the Sydney 2000 Olympics. Dale teaches in Sydney and works as a freelance dancer and choreographer. Dale returned to Adelaide in 2002 to choreograph "Earthsway" for the South Australian Children's Ballet Company
Luke Ingham
Luke trained with Elayne Cherry at the Pierrot School of Ballet in Adelaide. He danced with the SACBC for one year before gaining a place at the Australian Ballet School. During his final year he toured with the Dancers Company. Luke was accepted into The Australian Ballet in 2004, and in 2005 danced with the Company in Cardiff and London, in Graeme Murphy’s “Swan Lake”. He returned to Adelaide with the Company for the season of The Sleeping Beauty, dancing the role of a Prince in the Rose Adagio. Luke will appear with the Company in “Raymonda” in 2006.
Daniel Jaber
Daniel had received only jazz dance training before he joined the Company in 1998, where he started his classical training with Beverley Waters, and then with various studios in Adelaide. His tertiary dance training was with the Queensland University of Technology and with the Adelaide Centre for the Arts. He has appeared as a Guest Artist with the Company, dancing his own choreography. Daniel joined the Australian Dance Theatre in 2004, appearing in Garry Stewart’s “Held” and has toured nationally and internationally with the Company. In ADT’s 2006 Ignition 6 program, Daniel choreographed “The World’s Smallest Stage. Invaded!”
Sara-Jane Macaskill
Sarah-Jane trained at the Cheryl Bradley Dance Studios. She danced with the SACBC for three years, dancing the leading role in “Beware the Fragile Forest”. She graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts Dance Course and commenced teacher training. Sarah-Jane runs her own ballet school, and has been Ballet Mistress and a Guest Artist with the Company. Sarah-Jane has now completed a degree in Education and is teaching dance at Salisbury High School.
Laura Rabone
Laura trained with Robert Okell, Beverley Waters and Vivienne Winter. She danced with the SACBC for eight years, four of them as principal dancer. While studying for her Physiotherapy Degree, Laura was an assistant teacher for Vivienne Winter and also a Guest Artist for the SACBC. She was a resident Physiotherapist with The Australian Ballet and has also worked with the Nederlands Dance Company.
Danielle Rowe
Danielle trained at the Cheryl Bradley Dance Studios and completed the Advanced Certificate of the Royal Academy of Dance. She danced with the SACBC for four years. Danielle gained a place in the three year course at the Australian Ballet School, performing with the Dancers Company in her final year. She competed in the Genee International Ballet Competition in London. Danielle was accepted intoThe Australian Ballet. She won the People’s Choice Award in the 2003 Telstra Young Dancer of the Year Award. Danielle was promoted to Choryphee in 2004 and to Soloist in 2005. She toured with The Australian Ballet to the UK, dancing in Graeme Murphy’s Swan Lake in Cardiff and London in 2005, and returned to Adelaide with the Company in October. In Stanton Welch’s The Sleeping Beauty Danielle danced the role of Carabosse and also the role of the Lilac Fairy. Danielle will appear with the Company in “Raymonda” in 2006.
Shannon Sullivan
Shannon trained at Ecole de Ballet with Jacqueline Tucker and later at Dancecraft with Christine Underdown. She danced with the Company for three years, creating the role of Cinderella in Csaba Buday’s ‘Cinderella – the Untold Story’ in 2000. Shannon has completed the 3 year BA Dance Performance course at AC Arts, and won a scholarship to train and perform with the Akjun Ballet in New York. She has returned to the Company to appear as a guest artist on several occasions, and has assisted with Company rehearsals.
Megan Sullivan
Megan trained at Ecole de Ballet with Jacqueline Tucker and later at Dancecraft Studios with Christine Underdown. She danced with the Company for five years, has appeared as a guest dancer each subsequent year, and assists with Company rehearsals. Megan is in her 3rd year of the BA Dance Performance course at the Adelaide Centre for the Arts.
Gavin Webber
Gavin trained with Beverley Waters and later at the Centre of Performing Arts in Adelaide. He danced for five years with the SACBC before joining Meryl Tankard’s Australian Dance Theatre with which he toured nationally and internationally. Travelling to Europe, Gavin danced in the UK and in Germany and Holland. Returning to Australia he worked as a freelance dancer and choreographer, and in 2005 he was appointed Artistic Director of Dance North in Queensland.
Marshall Whyler
Marshall trained with Rex Reid and Beverley Waters at the Adelaide Dance Centre, and was principal male dancer with the SACBC for four years. Moving to outback Australia, Marshall learned to play the didgeridoo and then travelled overseas, and has enjoyed considerable success touring Europe with his ‘Australiana Show”. He has made many CD recordings in Europe and is currently living and working in Germany.
Amy Wiseman
Amy trained with Beverley Waters, and also with Vivienne Winter and Natanya Andonas. She danced with the Company for three years, and created the role of Victoria in Paul Boyd’s “The Red Shoes”. Amy is currently in her third year at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
Remi Wortmeyer
Remi trained with Elayne Cherry at the Pierrot School of Ballet in Adelaide. He joined the SACBC and studied with Beverley Waters and also withTerry Simpson. Remi danced with the SACBC for five years. He gained a place in the Australian Ballet School and toured with the Dancers Company in his final year, then graduated into The Australian Ballet where he has recently been promoted to Choryphee. In 2005 Remi won the inaugural Walter Bourke Award which is designed to enable the winner to take an extended overseas placement with another company. Remi is currently dancing with the American Ballet Theatre in New York.
